A private feeling beach near a resort. You'll pass through the first part of the resort but there's no need to go through any gate or speak to any attendant. Just follow the signs. When you come down the access road the left side is more sandy and for swimming and the right side is more rocky and reef.
I visited the right side. You can take your car down the dirt and gravel road to park right alongside the beach. It was fine for me to do in my two-wheel drive vehicle. I was able to park maybe a quarter mile down in some shade. There are some trees and it's a nice place to hammock.
There are a few porta pots along the beach access dirt road.
I saw at least four whales in an hour. It's very quiet and feels secluded, save the occasional departing flight.
Best camping ever. Sunset is gorgeous, sunrise too. Easy to find a quiet and secluded spot. Security is on point: permits are checked and gates are closed during the night. You can literally camp on the beach sand (tip: use lava rocks to secure your tent). Make sure you book a permit ahead of time, it's almost always fully booked!
Surf was too high to get a true feel for the place. Smell of portapotty was strong enough to reach the beach. Still pretty, but recommend Kaloko Honokohau if you're just killing time until the airport as we were.
Great public beach to visit in the Kailua-Kona area on the Big Island. There's free parking spots & ample room on the beach to set up a tent and relax. You can also go surfing here.
There is this beautiful golf course that we were curious about and it lead us to this gorgeous location. There were some wild animals out gracing us with their presence. There is a pond with beautiful birds so you can bird watch. There is a path that is wheelchair accessible so you can take that path, but at the end there is sand. I had the best time praying, reflecting my life and reading a book I picked up for free at the church. My friends got a chance to roam around, enjoy the water and we found some nice sea shells. There are some old huts you can discover and the scenery is gorgeous. You can swim and create lots of good memories with family or friends. Don’t forget to bring towels, sunblock (sun is strong here), HAts, wear water shoes and snacks. I saw families making a fire for their bbq. You can park inside the lot available. You can not fly a drone here. Its restricted. Great place to visit and take photos.
Nice mixture of lava and white sand from first paved parking area. You can take your vehicle from here to the right to park on the sand. Narrow paved one lane road (for two way traffic) to the left is the surfing spot so much more crowded. Please show aloha!
Very nice beach. Perfect for watching the sunset or surfing.
This is a gorgeous beach. I love walking here and enjoying the views. There is a parking lot at the entrance but also lots of available parking in the interior except weekend can be crowded. The park opens at 5:30am. There are real bathrooms inside the park towards the southern end.
